Social Emotional Skills and Etiquette Classes for Kids and Teens
Why is it important for Children and Young Adults?
Social skills and good manners are essential to maintain good and healthy relations with those around us. It teaches us that other people matter, and they deserve respect and kindness. Social skills and manners also helps them find their place in society and make connections with other people. The scientific journal, Child Development, conducted an analysis of 33 studies and found that “Teaching kids social and emotional skills leads to an average 11 percentile-point gain in their academic performance over six months compared to students who didn’t receive the same instruction.” They also found that students ranging from kindergarten through high school who have these skills tend to form bonds with teachers and peers more easily. The child who has not assimilated proper social and communication skills runs the risk of going through life without the right baggage.
About the Program
A three-session program designed to empower children, tweens and teens by maximizing awareness and knowledge of social skills, civility, leadership skills and proper etiquette. Classes are fun and interactive with a variety of presentations and activities specifically designed for each age group, but the core content is the same. Family involvement is highly encouraged through take-home handouts for the child and for the parent with information and tips to reinforce social skills, positive attitudes towards learning and applying good manners. The program can be offered on a private, one-on-one basis, small groups, or to schools and private organizations for their students or members.
